About Jody Meyer Yazici
Jody Meyer Yazici has over 30 years of experience practicing in all aspects of family law. Her work spans the full range of matters that family law practice demands, including divorce, child custody and parenting issues, child support, maintenance, property classification and division, valuations, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, and the tax considerations that accompany family law transactions.
As a Cornell Law student, Jody began working with the eminent attorney Muller Davis (1935-2017) on the first draft of what became The Illinois Practice of Family Law, published by West Publishing (now Thomson Reuters). Most recently, she completed the 25th Edition, published in March 2026. The Illinois Practice of Family Law is the most-widely used resource for Illinois family law judges and practitioners, covering the full scope of Illinois and federal law affecting the family law practice, along with annotated practice notes applying and analyzing case law, and an entire volume of litigation forms. The Illinois Practice of Family Law is a part of Thomson Reuter’s bedrock reference set, the Illinois Practice Series, and can be accessed through Westlaw.
In addition to writing and producing all 25 Editions of the Illinois Practice of Family Law, Jody has been published widely in the field. Her articles have appeared in the Illinois Bar Journal and the ISBA Family Law Section Newsletter, and her work was included in the 2011 Edition of Strategies for Family Law in Illinois. At the request of the authors, she assisted in the pre-publication review of The Lawyer’s Guide to the Cost of Capital by Shannon Pratt and Roger Grabowski (2014), a leading text on the valuation issues that frequently arise in complex divorce and property division matters.
Jody has repeatedly been named to the Leading Lawyers Network, a peer-nominated recognition reserved for the top attorneys in Illinois. She also served for many years on the judicial evaluation committee of the Chicago Council of Lawyers, contributing to the bar’s review of judicial candidates and sitting judges.
She received her J.D. from Cornell Law School in 1994, and is a 1990 graduate of Northwestern University.
