Merel Family Law Office Slideshow:
An Introduction To Our New Space
Welcome to our Downtown Chicago office at 440 W Randolph Street: designed with purpose, care, and every detail centered around the client experience. As you’ve seen in the video and slideshow, this space is more than just a law office. It’s a reflection of how we practice: modern, compassionate, and focused on real support.
“It was always the goal to create a Modern urban office that felt airy and bright and sophisticated, but also fun and just a pleasant space to be,” said Melody McLeod, Lead Designer for the project with LG Group.
This office was a direct result of our rapid expansion over the last several years. What started as a solo-attorney firm has now blossomed into a 20+ attorney office with many staff and clerks helping us grow and assist families in need. As our client base and team have grown, so too has our need for a space that reflects who we are today: a leading family law firm built on collaboration, innovation, and care. This new office is not just a response to that growth, but a symbol of it.
“At the beginning of the firm, Jonathan was the only attorney, and I was his only law Clerk,” said Melissa Caballero Dunn, Merel’s Managing Partner. “Now we’ve exploded to 30 employees at this point – all amazing, quality people, and it’s something that we’re incredibly proud of.”
Every corner of the office was built to serve the unique needs of family law clients and the professionals who support them. Our state-of-the-art Zoom courtrooms offer privacy and efficiency for virtual hearings, helping clients stay connected to their case without the added stress of traveling to court. For cases involving children, our dedicated GAL room creates a welcoming, age-appropriate environment where families can work with Guardian ad Litems and Parenting Coordinators in a space built for comfort and trust.
“It feels like home for the people who work here,” said Connor Lane, Director of Marketing for Merel Family Law. “It feels like a place of relaxation and a place where clients can come see their situation unfold in the most relaxing way possible.”
Beyond the legal work, we’ve created spaces to support the emotional and mental well-being of everyone who walks through our doors. A meditation room provides a quiet place for reflection or de-escalation, while the lounge—complete with foosball and ping pong tables—encourages moments of connection and levity. Attorneys and clients alike can take advantage of the fully equipped kitchen, and our beautiful, cutting-edge conference rooms designed for collaboration, privacy, and clarity.
”The ability for our employees to go to different areas to work, to collaborate, to meet with people whether it be clients or opposing counsels is amazing,” said Jonathan Merel, Founder and Managing Principal. “I think there’s so many options and depending on the day and mood and what you want to do, this office has whatever you need available.”
We believe your environment matters—especially when you’re navigating one of life’s most difficult transitions. This office is our way of making that experience a little more supportive, a little more human, and a lot more intentional.
